Shorewomen Drop Opener
Host Eagles Secure 2-0 Win

FREDERICKSBURG, VA -- The Washington College field hockey team dropped its season opener, 2-0, this afternoon at host Mary Washington College. The Eagles, who were also playing in their season opener, scored a goal in each half to earn the win.

Both Mary Washington goals were scored by Shelley Sabo. She scored off a feed from Adrienne Trombley with 9:33 remaining in the first period and then gave the Eagles a 2-0 lead off a pass from Chrissy Soper with 11:04 to go in the second.

Senior goalkeeper Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton Area) made eight saves for the Shorewomen, while Mary Washington's Robyn Lankford made six saves in the shutout.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. game at Notre Dame (MD).
