Shore Win Streak Ends at McDaniel
WC To Play Johns Hopkins in CC Semis

WESTMINSTER, MD -- The Washington College Shorewomen saw their six-game win streak come to an end this afternoon at 12th-ranked McDaniel College. The Green Terror came away with the 4-0 win in the final regular season game for both squads and earned hosting rights for this weekend's Centennial Conference Tournament.

McDaniel (16-3, 7-2 Centennial Conference) got on the board less than five minutes into the game on a goal by Lindsay Ricks with 31:15 left in the first half. Nine minutes later, Laura Ford pushed the lead to 2-0 with a goal. The Green Terror took their 2-0 lead into the half and then tacked on a third goal less than three minutes into the second period when Melanie Thompson knocked in a shot with 32:08 to play. Sara Thomas rounded out the scoring with less than nine minutes to play.

Despite the 4-0 final, Washington (10-7, 7-2 Centennial Conference) was even with McDaniel in shots at 13 each. The Shorewomen also had 11 penalty corners, including nine in the second half, but could not take advantage. McDaniel had five penalty corners in the game.

McDaniel goalkeeper Becky Arnold made four saves in the win, while WC junior goalkeeper Zina Hense (Lewes, DE/Cape Henlopen) made five stops.

In other Centennial action today, Johns Hopkins lost to Gettysburg, while Franklin & Marshall defeated Dickinson. That gives Johns Hopkins the third seed and a date with the Shorewomen in Saturday's second semifinal game, while the host Green Terror will play fourth-seeded Franklin & Marshall in the opener of the tournament.
