19, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College field hockey team won its fourth consecutive game this and improved to 3-0 in Centennial Conference play with a 5-1 home victory over visiting Haverford this afternoon in Chestertown. The five goals represented a season-high offensive output for the Shorewomen, who are now 5-2 overall. Washington struck early when junior midfielder Julie Phillips (Easton, MD/Easton) scored an unassisted goal on a rebound just inside the circle with 29:30 left in the half. The Fords (2-7 overall, 0-2 Centennial) answered ten minutes later on a goal by sophomore forward Mindy Walman (Reisterstown, MD/Garrison Forest). The Shorewomen took the lead for good with 8:19 left in the first half when senior back Jamie Thompson (Wilmington, DE/Concord) found senior forward Avery Coleman (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) for what proved to be the game-winner. Sophomore forward Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County) scored WC's third first-half goal with 1:47 to play off a Phillips assist. Washington added a pair of insurance goals late in the second half from junior midfielder Jessica McAdams (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) and junior back Megan Daily (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern). Phillips picked up her fourth point of the day on Daily's goal and pushed her team-leading point total to 17. WC junior goalkeeper Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton) faced just three shots and did not need to make a single save in the win, but Thompson picked up a defensive save in the second half. The Shorewomen held commanding 25-3 and 12-2 advantages in shots and penalty corners, respectively. Washington will look to stay undefeated in the conference Saturday with a 1:00 p.m. game at Muhlenberg. Box Score
