27, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Freshman midfielder Katie Lowe (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) knocked in the game-winning goal with 2:39 remaining in the first overtime period to lead the Gettysburg College Bullets past the host Washington College Shorewomen, 4-3, in the Centennial Conference Field Hockey Semifinals this afternoon. Sophomore forward Carrie Brown (Hummlestown, PA/Hershey) scored the first two goals of the game for the Bullets (9-10). Brown's first goal came with 14:00 left in the first half on a rebound. Her second came with 6:39 left before the break off an assist from freshman forward Kelley Mishler (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown). The Shorewomen (12-7) got on the board with 3:33 to go in the period on the first of two goals by freshman midfielder/forward Laura Scimeca (Cream Ridge, NJ/Allentown). Scimeca's second goal opened the second-half scoring and tied the game 31:05 to play in regulation. Washington pulled ahead when junior midfielder Julie Phillips (Easton, MD/Easton) scored from two yards inside the circle after receiving a pass from junior midfielder Jessica McAdams (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) with 22:51 remaining. The lead held up for over 19 minutes until Bullet senior forward Aimee Boiss (Medfield, MA/Medfield) knocked in a rebound with 3:36 on the clock. Lowe's game-winner came on Gettysburg's second shot in overtime. The Bullets will face Johns Hopkins in tomorrow's championship game at 12:00 p.m. in Chestertown. The winner of that game will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Division III Tournament. The Blue Jays posted a 3-0 win over Franklin & Marshall in today's other semifinal. Box Score
