20, 2001 GETTYSBURG, PA -- The Washington College field hockey team missed out on a chance to clinch home-field advantage for the Centennial Conference playoffs with a 3-1 loss at Gettysburg this afternoon. The loss was the Shorewomen's first in conference play this season. Washington (12-5, 7-1) got on the board first when sophomore forward Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County) scored off a pass from sophomore defender Missy Tine (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) with 14:02 to play in the first half. The Bullets (8-9, 6-2) tied the score when senior defender Amy Centanni (Medford, NJ/Shawnee) assisted on a goal by sophomore forward Carrie Brown (Hummelstown, PA/Hershey) with 8:15 to go in the half and took the lead on an unassisted goal by freshman midfielder Katie Lowe (Setauket, NY/Ward Melville) 50 seconds later. The Bullets added an insurance goal with 30:08 to play in the second when freshman midfielder Kelley Mishler (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) tallied an unassisted marker. The Bullets scored their three goals on just five shots, while holding the Shorewomen to nine shots in the game. Washington held a 15-8 edge in penalty corners. The Shorewomen can still host the four-team Centennial Conference playoffs, slated for next Saturday and Sunday. A win by Johns Hopkins over Gettysburg Tuesday would clinch hosting rights for Washington. Should the Bullets win that game, Washington can still clinch with a win Wednesday over visiting Western Maryland. A Gettysburg win coupled with a Washington loss would give the Bullets the right to host the playoffs. Box Score
