2, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- A pair of first-half goals from sophomore forward Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County) helped lead the Washington College field hockey team to its first win of the season, a 4-0 shutout against visiting Frostburg State today in Chestertown. The Shorewomen (1-1) outshot the Bobcats (1-1), 27-10, in the win. Sisco score her first goal 6:40 to play in the opening frame, when she scored off an assist from junior midfielder Julie Phillips (Easton, MD/Easton). The Shorewomen then dodged a bullet with 44 seconds to go before the break, when junior goalkeeper Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton) stopped a penalty stroke off the stick of Bobcat freshman back Nicole Waltz (Westminster, MD/Westminster). Sisco scored her second goal of the game when she fired in a rebound during a penalty corner after time expired. Washington went on to add two more goals in the second half to pull away. Junior back Megan Daily (Voorhees, NJ/Eastern) and senior forward Avery Coleman (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) scored the insurance markers off feeds from Phillips and senior back Jamie Thompson (Wilmington, DE/Concord), respectively. Allebach made five saves in recording the first shutout of her collegiate career in just her second start. She has not been scored upon over the last 79:54. Frostburg State sophomore goalkeeper Jessica Moore (Bowie, MD/Culpepper, VA) made 12 saves in the loss. The four goals were the most scored by the Shorewomen since a 5-0 home win against Bryn Mawr on September 20 of last year. Washington returns to action Tuesday with a 4:30 p.m. home game against Notre Dame (MD). Box Score
