WC's ECAC Run Ends in Semifinals
Shorewomen Shut Out by Catholic

WASHINGTON, DC -- The Washington College field hockey team saw its season and its hopes for a postseason title both end today with a 1-0 loss at Catholic in a semifinal game of the ECAC Mid-Atlantic Championships. The Shorewomen end the season with a 13-8 record, while the top-seeded Cardinals (16-3) advance to tomorrow's championship game against Montclair State.

The only goal of the tightly-played defensive battle was scored by Catholic junior forward Steph Roselle (Tinton Falls, NJ/Red Bank Catholic) with 13:59 left to play in the game. Roselle found a loose ball in the arc and shot it into the cage for the game-winner.

Washington junior goalkeeper Christie Allebach (Telford, PA/Souderton) made seven saves in the loss, while Cardinal junior Katie Iannacone (Havertown, PA/Villa Maria) notched six saves in the shutout.

The Shorewomen held a 7-5 edge in penalty corners, but were outshot 12-9 in the contest.
