4, 2001 CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Missed opportunities in the first half of today's 2-1 home loss against the College of Notre Dame (MD) proved costly for the Washington College field hockey team. The Shorewomen outshot the Gators 23-3 in the first half of play, but the score was knotted 1-1 at the break. Washington (1-2) got on the board first in this afternoon's contest when sophomore forward Taneil Sisco (Kent County, MD/Kent County) found the back of the cage off an assist from junior midfielder Jessica McAdams (Baltimore, MD/Bryn Mawr) with 22:45 on the clock. Notre Dame (1-1) pulled even, however, when junior forward Alayna Lawson (Mechanicsville, MD/Chopticon) knocked in a shot at the 5:59 mark. The game remained scoreless for over a full half of play before CND senior forward Beth Pryor (Bowie, MD/Spalding) fired in the game-winner. Gator freshman goalkeeper Jill Baran (Baltimore, MD/Perry Hall) finished with 13 saves. Overall, the Shorewomen held a 39-9 advantage in shots inside the circle and a 24-3 edge in penalty corners. Washington returns to action Thursday with its Centennial Conference opener, a 5:00 p.m. game at Franklin & Marshall. Box Score
