Blue Jays Ground Shorewomen, 69-45
Lucas Scores 11 Points In Career Finale

BALTIMORE, MD – Andrea Dodrill tallied a double-double with 17 points and a game-high 19 rebounds as host Johns Hopkins downed Washington College, 69-45, on Saturday afternoon in Centennial Conference women's basketball action at Goldfarb Gymnasium. In the season finale for both teams, the Blue Jays finish 12-12 overall and 10-8 in conference play, while the Shorewomen conclude the season 9-16 and 6-12 respectively.

Washington led 14-13 with 8:45 remaining in the first half when Johns Hopkins went on a 14-7 run to close out the first half. Lyndsay Burton would give the Blue Jays a 15-14 lead on a layup, a lead they would never relinquish. With the hosts up 20-18, Johns Hopkins would score the next six points to take a 26-18 lead with 3:01 left in the opening half on a layup by Dodrill. The Shorewomen would score three of the final four points of the half to trim the deficit to 27-21 at intermission.

The Shorewomen opened the second half on a 9-4 run to cut the Blue Jays lead to 31-30. The run was capped on a layup by junior guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/St. Pius X) with 15:59 remaining in the tilt. Johns Hopkins would answer with a 17-3 run to open the lead to 48-33 with 9:12 left in the second half. Washington would cut the deficit to 11 points twice, but would draw no closer.

For Johns Hopkins, Britni Lonesome had 18 points to lead all players. Lonesome and Dodrill each blocked a game-high four shots. Kristin Phillips collected 14 rebounds in the win.

For Washington, sophomore guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) netted a team-high 14 points. Senior forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove), in her final game, scored 11 points on 5-for-7 shooting from the floor, while Slizofski added 10 points. Senior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch), also in her final game, dished out a game-best seven assists. Conway and sophomore guard Jessica Jamrogowicz (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) each had a game-high three steals. Conway finishes with 80 steals in 2007-08, a Washington College single-season best and 193 career steals, second most for a women's basketball player at Washington.

Johns Hopkins shot 35% from the field to Washington's 33%. The Blue Jays outrebounded the Shorewomen by a 55-35 margin. Johns Hopkins netted 23 second-chance points to just nine for Washington.
