Red Devils Hold Off Shorewomen, 50-46
Slizofski Grabs Career-High 15 Rebounds

CARLISLE, PA – Carole Dempsey netted a game-high 14 points and corralled a team-best nine rebounds as host Dickinson College held off visiting Washington College, 50-46, this afternoon at the Kline Center in Centennial conference women's basketball action. The Red Devils improved to 9-5 overall and 8-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 5-9 and 2-5 with the loss.

Dickinson scored six of the first eight points to take a lead they would never give up. Washington would cut it to one point twice, but could never take the lead. The hosts would take an 18-11 lead before the Shorewomen went on a 7-2 run to trim the deficit to 20-18 with 6:22 left on a make by freshman forward Jessycka Wilson (Severna Park, MD/Severn School). The Red Devils closed out the half on a 6-2 run to take a 26-20 lead into intermission.

In the second half, Dickinson took its largest lead at 34-25 with 17:30 left in the game. Washington would respond with a 17-8 run to cut the deficit to 45-42 with 5:10 to go on a three-point goal by sophomore guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic). O'Donnell had a chance to tie the game on the Shorewomen's next possession, but her three-point shot rimmed in and out. The Red Devils would score the next five points to fend off the visiting Shorewomen.

Brooke Muller dished out a team-best four assists and along with Dempsey had a game-topping four steals for Dickinson.

Junior guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/St. Pius X) grabbed a career-high 15 rebounds and just missed out on a double-double as she scored eight points. Senior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) paced Washington with 12 points, five assists and along with sophomore guard Jessica Jamrogowicz (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace) nabbed a team-best three steals. O'Donnell added 11 points for Washington.

Washington shot 35% from the field in the game to Dickinson's 34%. The Shorewomen committed 28 turnovers to the Red Devils' 16. The Shorewomen controlled the boards by a 43-33 margin.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Swarthmore.
