2007 CHAMBERSBURG, PA The Washington College women's basketball team picked up a 73-38 win over host Wilson College tonight in Chambersburg, PA, giving the Shorewomen (5-6) their first three-game winning streak since the 2003-04 season and matching their win total from all of last season The 35-point win over the Phoenix also represented Washington's largest margin of victory since an 80-43 win over Bryn Mawr on February 20th, 2003. Freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) paced Washington with a game-high 16 points, while sophomore guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/Pius X) finished with 15 points. Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) added nine points and a team-best eight rebounds, while junior forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove) contributed eight points and seven boards. Sophomore forward Amanda Sorflaten (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) matched her career high of eight points. Wilson (2-8) got 10 points a piece from Dana Bennett and Jennifer Liggett and seven points and a game-high nine rebounds from Sarah Engelsman. Washington never trailed in the game and held a 30-15 lead at halftime. The Shorewomen shot 38% in the game while Wilson shot 29%. The Shorewomen also held a commanding 58-31 advantage on the boards and committed 10 turnovers to Wilson's 18. Washington's three straight wins have all come on the road, marking the first time the Shorewomen have won three consecutive road games since the 1998-99 season. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 4:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Gettysburg. |
