Shorewomen Tame Wolverines, 73-63
O'Donnell and Turner Combine for 39 Points

DOVER, DE – The Washington College women's basketball team used a 10-0 run in the second half to take control of the game en route to a 73-63 win over host Wesley College tonight in Dover, DE. The Shorewomen improved to 10-10 with the victory, matching their best win total since the 2001-02 season, while the Wolverines fell to 5-14.

The Shorewomen held a 29-18 lead at halftime, but a 20-9 run by the Wolverines to open the second half knotted the score at 38-38 on a jumper by Patricia Miller with 13:29 to play. Washington then reeled off 10 straight points, capped off by a three-pointer from freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) with 10:14 remaining, to give Washington a 48-38 advantage. The Shorewomen led by at least five points the rest of the way.

O'Donnell finished with a team-high 20 points and a career-best five assists, while senior guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) added 19 points and six rebounds for the Shorewomen. Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) contributed 12 rebounds and seven assists for Washington, while sophomore guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/Pius X) had eight points, 10 rebounds, and five assists. Freshman forward Julie Sherwood (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) matched her career high of 11 rebounds and scored eight points, while junior forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove) also brought down 10 rebounds.

Dominique Barrett led the Wolverines with a game-high 24 points and 13 rebounds. Colleen Thomas added 11 points for Wesley.

Washington held a commanding 59-38 advantage on the boards. The Shorewomen shot 38% from the field to Wesley's 35% and were 14-of-16 at the free throw line, while Wesley was just 7-of-12.

The Shorewomen last won 10 games in a season when they went 10-15 in 2002-03, one year after going 11-14 in 2001-02.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Gettysburg.
