2007 COLLEGEVILLE, PA Host Ursinus College jumped out to a 16-2 lead and never looked back en route to a 73-60 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory over visiting Washington College tonight in Collegeville, PA. The Bears, who led by at least nine points the rest of the game following their early run, improved to 10-7 overall and 7-4 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 8-10 and 3-9 with the loss. Ursinus led by as many as 28 points in the second half before the Shorewomen ended the game on a 23-8 run. The Bears got a game-high 24 points from Carolyn Konstanzer in the win. Sarah Hennessey added 22 points, a game-high eight assists, and seven rebounds, while Molly Guntli scored 15 points and Mary Kate Daley brought down a game-high 11 rebounds. Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) paced Washington with 17 points and seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Brianne Slizfoski (Collegeville, PA/Pius X) added 16 points, while freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) tallied 12. Freshman forward Julie Sherwood (Fairfield, CT/Fairfield Warde) grabbed a team-high nine rebounds, swiped four steals, and scored six points in the loss. Ursinus shot 70% from the field in the first half and 50% in the game. The Shorewomen shot 33% from the field. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Bryn Mawr. |
