WC Cruises Past St. Joseph, 78-51
Shorewomen Dish Out 25 Assists, Commit Just 5 Turnovers

RUTLAND, VT – Visiting Washington College cruised to a 78-51 victory over host College of St. Joseph in a non-conference women's basketball game today at St. Joseph's Athletic Center. The Shorewomen, who dished out 25 assists in the game to only five turnovers, improved to 3-6, while the Fighting Saints, an NAIA Division II school, fell to 1-9.

The Shorewomen jumped out to a 20-7 lead in the game as freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) drained a three-pointer to cap off the game-opening run with 12:20 to play in the first period. Washington led by as many as 22 points in the first half before taking a 45-27 lead into the intermission.

Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) scored a team-high 16 points, grabbed a team-best eight rebounds, dished out five assists, and swiped a game-high five steals in the win for the Shorewomen. Sophomore guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/Pius X) added 15 points, while O'Donnell finished with 12. Sophomore forward Amada Sorflaten (Westminster, MD/Winters Mill) scored a career-high eight points, while sophomore guard Christie Rogers (Davidsonville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) dished out a game-high and career-high six assists for Washington.

Vicki Guetti led St. Joseph with a game-high 19 points and nine rebounds. Irene Tompkins posted a double-double of 10 points and a game-high 13 boards, while Tahara Pleasure added 10 points of her own.

Washington shot 10-for-22 from three-point range in the win and held a 40-39 advantage on the board. Eighteen of Washington's rebounds came on the offensive end. St. Joseph committed 23 turnovers in the game.

The Shorewomen are back in action tomorrow with a 2:00 p.m. game at Southern Vermont.
