2007 WESTMINSTER, MD Host McDaniel College outscored visiting Washington College, 47-19, in the second half to pull away for an 80-47 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory tonight in Westminster, MD. The Green Terror improved to 13-2 overall and 7-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen fell to 7-8 and 2-7 with the loss. McDaniel shot 65% from the field in the second half and 47% for the game. Washington shot just 19% from the field in the second half and 28% for the game. The Green Terror also held a commanding 52-37 advantage on the boards. Sixteen players got into the game for McDaniel and 14 of them scored. Katy Powell had a team-high 12 points and a game-high four assists, while Heather Thompson and Theresa Hess each scored 11 points and pulled down a team-high eight rebounds. Jamie Morningstar also scored 11 points for the Green Terror. Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) led the Shorewomen with a game-best 15 points. Freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) added nine points, while freshman center Melissa Joseph (Selden, NY/Newfield) scored six points and pulled down a game-high nine rebounds. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Muhlenberg. |
