Hopkins Ground Shorewomen, 72-59
Conway and Slizofski Record Double-Digit Rebounds

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Forward Julie Miller netted a double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds, and added a game-high four steals as visiting Johns Hopkins downed host Washington College, 72-59, on Tuesday evening at the Cain Athletic Center in Centennial Conference action.

The Blue Jays led the Shorewomen 18-15 with 7:45 to go in the first half before going on a 10-2 run to take a 28-17 lead with 4:56 remaining. The run was capped by two Miller free throws. The rest of the half was played even and the Blue Jays led 36-25 at intermission.

Johns Hopkins (10-6, 8-3 CC) opened the second half on an 18-11 run to take its biggest lead of the game at 54-36 with 10:52 to go. Washington College (8-9, 3-8 CC) got it as close as 10 points with 1:11 left on a fast-break layup by senior guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County), but could draw no closer.

Guard Whitney Davis led all scorers with 16 points and was one of four Blue Jays in double figures. Along with Miller and Davis, forwards Kristin Phillips and Jenna Berninger scored 11 and 10 points respectively. Forward Andrea Dodrill had a game-high 16 rebounds.

Freshman guard Jane O'Donnell (Cape May Court House, NJ/Wildwood Catholic) scored 14 points to lead the Shorewomen. Turner added 12 points for Washington College in the tilt. Junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) had 11 rebounds and a game-best five assists, while sophomore guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/St. Pius X) had 10 boards.

Johns Hopkins outrebounded Washington College in the contest by a margin of 52-43, including 27 on the offensive end.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday, January 25, with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Ursinus.
