10, 2007 LANCASTER, PA Host Franklin & Marshall topped visiting Washington College, 70-53, in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game this afternoon at the Mayser Center in Lancaster, PA. The Diplomats (6-17, 5-11 Centennial) got 20 points and a game-high 21 rebounds from Brittany Braxton in the win, while senior guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) scored 20 points in the loss for the Shorewomen (11-12, 5-11). Turner scored eight straight points during the Shorewomen's run. Braxton converted a put-back with four seconds to go in the period to give the Diplomats a 30-19 lead at the break. Washington scored the first seven points of the second half, whittling the lead down to 30-26 on a Turner lay-up with 16:32 remaining, but a three-pointer by Miriam Marcis and a jumper by Meisenberg pushed the lead back to 35-26 with 14:46 left. F&M would lead by at least six points the rest of the way. The Diplomats ended the game on a 10-2 run to pull away for the win. Marcis led all scorers with 21 points for F&M. Seven of Braxton's 17 rebounds came on the offensive end. Meisenberg, who scored 13 points and dished out four assists, and Amanda Miceli, who tallied 12 points and grabbed seven boards, also reached double figures in scoring for the Diplomats. Turner grabbed 11 rebounds and swiped a game-high four steals to go along with her 20 points, marking the second double-double of her career and her second in as many games. Sophomore guard Christie Rogers (Davidsonville, MD/Archbishop Spalding) added 12 points for the Shorewomen, while sophomore guard Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/Archbishop Spalding) and junior guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) matched Turner's 11 rebounds.
