Turner Pours in Game-High 19 Points for WC

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Dickinson College never trailed en route to a 66-55 victory over host Washington College in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game this afternoon at Cain Athletic Center. Laura Houseal was one of four players to reach double figures in scoring for the Red Devils (4-2, 2-1) as she scored 11 points and pulled down a game-high 17 rebounds, while senior guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) scored a game-best 19 points in a losing effort for the Shorewomen (2-3, 0-2).

Dickinson held a 31-19 advantage at halftime and led by as many as 16 points in the second half. The Shorewomen went on a late run to close within seven points with 28 seconds to go, but that was as close as Washington would get as the Red Devils held on for the win.

Seven of Houseal's 17 rebounds came on the offensive end. She also blocked two shots in the win for Dickinson. Maxie Etess scored a team-high 12 points for Dickinson, while Jess Howard and Brooke Muller each tallied 11. Howard also dished out a game-high four assists.

Turner collected six rebounds to go along with her 19 points to lead Washington. Sophomore guard Christie Rogers (Davidsonville, MD/Archbishop Spaulding) was the only other Shorewoman to reach double figures in scoring, finishing with 11 points after a 3-for-6 performance from beyond the three-point arc.

Dickinson shot 43% from the field, 43% from three-point range, and 77% at the line in the game. Washington was 32% from the field, 23 % from long distance, and 64% from the charity stripe. The Red Devils also maintained a 45-32 advantage on the boards. The Shorewomen did commit seven fewer turnovers than Dickinson (17 to 24).

The Shorewomen are back in action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Haverford.
