18, 2006 WESTMINSTER, MD Host McDaniel College forced 29 Washington College turnovers in the game en route to an 84-47 Centennial Conference women’s basketball victory this afternoon at The Gill Center. McDaniel clinched a Centennial Conference playoff berth with the win and finish the regular season 18-7 overall and 12-6 in conference play. Washington finished its season 5-20 overall and 2-16 in the Centennial Conference. McDaniel built a 37-20 lead by halftime. The Green Terror added a 22-6 run over an 8:14 stretch in the second half to run away with the win. Kristy Costa and Theresa Hess shared game-highs with 18 points each for McDaniel, while Katy Powell registered 11 points and grabbed a game-high seven rebounds. Sophomore guard Elise Conway (Silver Spring, MD/Paint Branch) led the Shorewomen with 11 points and five steals in the losing effort. Sophomore forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove) added eight points and a team-high six rebounds, while freshman forward Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/St. Pius X) contributed six points and grabbed five rebounds for the Shorewomen. McDaniel shot 45% from the field while holding the Shorewomen to just 31% shooting for the game. The Green Terror scored 30 of their points from the free throw line, knocking down 83% (30-for-36) of their attempts from the charity stripe. The Shorewomen were 6-for-9 from the line in the game. The Green Terror also held the rebounding advantage, outrebounding the Shorewomen by a margin of 43-36. The Green Terror have now won six straight contests over the Shorewomen.
