Diplomats Defeat Shorewomen, 56-46
Turner Leads Washington With 13 Points

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Visiting Franklin & Marshall College went on a 11-0 run over a span of 4:21 in the second half en route to a 56-46 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory this afternoon at Cain Gymnasium. The Diplomats improved to 9-14 overall and 6-10 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 5-18 and 2-14 with the loss.

The Diplomats held a 29-22 advantage after the first half, and used their 13-0 run to build a 19 point lead with 14:18 remaining in the game. However, the Shorewomen could not overcome the large deficit, despite holding the Diplomats without a field goal over the final 12:01.

Dana Johns led the Diplomats with a game-high 23 points. Sarah Meisenberg added 13 points and seven rebounds for F&M. Brittany Braxton and Emily Weaver both had double-digit rebounding performances for the Diplomats, grabbing 13 and 11, respectively.

Junior guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) scored a team-high 13 points and pulled down six rebounds for the Shorewomen. Freshman forward Brianne Slizofski (Collegeville, PA/St. Pius X) added 11 points, while junior forward Lauren Duckworth (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) grabbed a team-high seven rebounds for the Shorewomen in the loss.

The Diplomats outrebounded the Shorewomen by a margin of 52-42. F&M shot 74% (20-for-27) from the free throw line while Washington shot 61.1% (11-for-18).

The Shorewomen return to action on Tuesday at 7:30 p.m. for their final home game of the season against Centennial Conference foe Swarthmore.
