Diplomats Dismiss Shorewomen, 74-53
May Scores First Nine Collegiate Points

LANCASTER, PA – Host Franklin & Marshall College went on a 15-3 run to close out the first half en route to a 74-53 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory this evening at the Mayser Center. The Diplomats improved to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 4-10 and 1-6 with the loss.

Emily Weaver finished with a game-high 17 and eight rebounds for the Diplomats. Dana Johns added 12 points and a game-high five assists. Johns recorded four three-point baskets, giving her 128 for her career and breaking the Diplomats' school record of 127 set by Mika Lugue (’97). Brittany Braxton registered the game’s lone double-double with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

Freshman forward Kaitlyn Roth (Marlton, NJ/Cherokee) scored 10 points and pulled down a team-high nine rebounds for the Shorewomen. Sophomore forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove) also added 10 points and six rebounds, while freshman forward Kay May (Stafford, VA/Colonial Forge) registered her first career points, adding nine in just eight minutes of play in the losing effort. Franklin & Marshall shot 41% from the field in the game, while Washington shot 30%. The Diplomats outrebounded the Shorewomen by a margin of 48-38.

The Shorewomen return to action on Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Dickinson.
