February 1, 2005 CHESTERTOWN, MD Visiting Ursinus College defeated host Washington College, 74-39, in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The Bears improved to 9-10 overall and 5-7 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-15 and 2-10 with the loss. Ursinus never trailed in the game and held a 36-19 lead at halftime. The Bears shot 52% from the field while holding the Shorewomen to 25% shooting. Ursinus also held a 40-31 advantage on the glass. Molly Guntli led the Bears with game highs of 25 points and 11 rebounds. Guntli shot 8-for-12 from the field and 9-of-12 from the free-throw line in the game. Mary Kate Daley added 17 points, while Dana Alf finished with 11. Alison Walker chipped in nine points. Sophomore forward Lauren Duckworth (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) and sophomore guard Regina Barrett (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Mamaroneck) each scored eight points for the Shorewomen, while senior guard/forward Jenny Campitelli (Reisterstown, MD/Notre Dame Prep) added seven points. Freshman forward Kim Proctor (Ferndale, MD/Institute of Notre Dame) pulled down a team-high seven rebounds for Washington. The Shorewomen will host Muhlenberg Thursday in a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game. |
