WAC Drops CC Opener to #17 JHU
Barrett Leads Shorewomen with 15 Points

BALTIMORE, MD – Seventeenth-ranked Johns Hopkins scored 49 first-half points en route to an 85-48 win over visiting Washington College this evening in the Centennial Conference women's basketball opener for both schools. Hopkins improved to 3-0 overall with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 1-2 with the loss.

The Blue Jays shot a red-hot 68% (21-of-31) in the first half and built a 49-27 lead at the break. Hopkins finished the game shooting 55% overall from the field, while limiting Washington to 28% shooting. The Blue Jays held a 43-31 advantage in rebounds in the game.

Thirteen players scored for Hopkins in the win, led by Ashanna Randall, who scored a team-high 12 points on six-of-nine shooting and collected a game-high eight rebounds. Julie Miller and Haley Wojdowski each contributed 11 points, while Ashley Felix tallied nine points and five steals.

Sophomore guard Regina Barrett (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Mamaroneck) came off the bench to lead Washington with a game-high 15 points. Barrett connected on five of her six three-point field-goal attempts in the loss. Sophomore guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) also reached double figures in scoring for WAC, finishing with 11 points.

The Shorewomen return to action one week from tonight when they host defending Centennial Conference Champion McDaniel, the 21st-ranked team in Division III, in their home opener at 7:00 p.m.
