Diplomats Top Shorewomen
Duckworth & Pastorino Lead WAC in Loss

LANCASTER, PA – Host Franklin & Marshall College defeated visiting Washington College, 73-53, in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game this afternoon in Lancaster, PA. The Diplomats, who held a 35-25 lead at halftime, improved to 11-13 overall and 9-8 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 5-19 and 3-14 with the loss.

Dana Johns led all scorers with 19 points and put up game-high totals of five assists and five steals for F&M. Lauren Dodrill added 12 points and a game-high nine rebounds, while Emily Weaver added 12 points and eight boards. Maura Lentz also reached double figures in scoring for the Diplomats, finishing with 10 points.

Sophomore forward Lauren Duckworth (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) and freshman guard Irene Pastorino (Swarthmore, PA/Cardinal O'Hara) each scored 12 points for Washington. Duckworth collected a team-high nine rebounds, while Pastorino finished with seven boards. Senior guard Jeremy Cook (Pattenburg, NJ/North Hunterdon) added 10 points for the Shorewomen, while freshman guard Katie Kirlin (West Chester, PA/Villa Maria Academy) made all three of her field goal attempts and scored a career-high six points in six minutes of playing time.

The Shorewomen shot 48% from the field and held F&M to 40% shooting, but Washington committed 33 turnovers in the game to the Diplomats' 13.

The Shorewomen finish off their 2004-05 season Tuesday with a 7:30 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Bryn Mawr.
