7, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD Host Washington College jumped out to a 43-20 halftime lead and held visiting Bryn Mawr to 27% shooting in the game en route to a 66-38 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory over the Owls this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen (2-4, 1-3 Centennial) had four players reach double figures in scoring in the victory. Washington sophomore forward Lauren Duckworth (Newtown, PA/Archbishop Wood) put up game highs of 18 points, 10 rebounds, and six assists in the win. Her six assists were also a career high. Sophomore guard LaToya Turner (Chestertown, MD/Kent County) added 14 points, while sophomore guard Regina Barrett (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Mamaroneck) connected on four three-pointers to tally 12 points and swiped four steals. Freshman forward Brenda Lucas (New London, PA/Avon Grove) contributed a career-best 10 points. Amy Johnson led Bryn Mawr with team highs of 14 points and seven rebounds and game highs of six steals and two blocked shots. Lauren Trembath added 11 points for the Owls. The Shorewomen shot 59% in the first half and 47% for the game. Washington also out-rebounded Bryn Mawr, 43-28. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with a 6:00 p.m. non-conference home game against Eastern Shore rival Salisbury University. |
