18, 2004 CHESTERTOWN, MD Visiting Swarthmore College held host Washington College to 15 points in the first half en route to a 59-47 Centennial Conference women's basketball victory this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The Garnet Tide improved to 14-9 overall and 9-7 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 7-16 and 3-13. Swarthmore held Washington to 24% shooting in the first half and led, 26-15, at the break. Radiance Walters scored 13 points and pulled down a game-high 16 rebounds for the Garnet, while Katie Robinson tossed in a game-high 19 points. Jennifer Stevenson added seven points and a game-high five assists. Senior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) led the Shorewomen with a team-high 14 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro) added eight points and a team-high eight rebounds in the loss. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Franklin & Marshall. |
