24, 2004 ALLENTOWN, PA The Muhlenberg College women's basketball team improved to 12-3 overall and 7-2 in Centennial Conference play with a 101-54 home win over visiting Washington College this afternoon at Memorial Hall in Allentown, PA. The Mules outrebounded the Shorewomen (4-11, 2-8), 62-36, in the contest. Jill Friedman led all scorers with 21 points on 9-of-11 shooting for the Mules. Becky Richmond added 10 points, while Kristen Piscadlo tallied eight points and game highs of nine assists and five steals. Senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) led Washington with 17 points. Senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro) added 16 points on seven-of-11 shooting and a game-high nine rebounds. Muhlenberg got off 15 more field goal attempts and attempted 16 more free throws than the Shorewomen, thanks to the Mules' 28 offensive rebounds and Washington's 34 turnovers. The Shorewomen are back in action Wednesday with a 6:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against McDaniel. |
