No. 24 McDaniel Tops WC, 74-58
Hartzell's 14 Points Lead Shorewomen

CHESTERTOWN, MD – Twenty-fourth ranked McDaniel College shot 50% from the field, including 60% in the second half, to defeat host Washington College, 74-58, in Centennial Conference women's basketball action tonight at Cain Athletic Center.

The Green Terror (14-2, 10-0 Centennial) held a 33-19 lead at the half after converting 15-of-35 field goal attempts and limiting the Shorewomen (4-12, 2-9) to 5-of-20 shooting in the period. McDaniel sealed the win by knocking down 15-of-25 shots from the floor in the second half. The Green Terror also held a commanding 46-30 advantage on the glass in the game.

Kristy Costa led McDaniel with a game-high 16 points and a game-high eight boards, while Kelly Cramp added 12 points and seven rebounds. Toby McIntire tallied seven points to go along with her team-high four assists. Amy Watson contributed eight points in 11 minutes off the bench.

Washington senior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) led the Shorewomen with team highs of 14 points and six rebounds and swiped a game-high four steals. She was 10-of-12 at the free throw line. Also in double figures in scoring for Washington were senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro) with 13 points and senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) with 10. Senior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) dished out a game-high five assists in the loss.

The Shorewomen are back in action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home game against Dickinson.
