2, 2003 WESTMINSTER, MD The Washington College women's basketball team slipped to 1-3 overall and 0-2 in Centennial Conference play with an 81-61 loss at McDaniel this evening. The Green Terror improved to 4-0 overall and 2-0 in conference play with the win. Washington senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro) posted game highs of 17 points and 11 rebounds for the Shorewomen, while senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) added 11 points and four assists. Kristy Costa led McDaniel with 15 points, while Katy Powell added 11 points on four-for-five shooting and six assists. Sara Franz dished out a game-high eight assists, while Jacqueline Pundt scored nine points and blocked three shots for the Green Terror. McDaniel led 40-31 at halftime. The Green Terror recorded 25 assists and committed only 10 turnovers, while the Shorewomen committed 22 turnovers. The Shorewomen return to action Saturday when they host Muhlenberg in a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game. |
