25, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD Defending Centennial Conference Champion Johns Hopkins moved to 3-0 overall and 1-0 in conference play this season with a 71-43 victory over host Washington College in women's basketball action this evening at Cain Athletic Center. The game was the home opener for the Shorewomen, who slipped to 1-2 overall and 0-1 in conference play with the loss. Washington led 10-7 with 11:27 remaining in the first half, but the Blue Jays went on a 20-0 run over the next 13:22 to take control of the game. Hopkins led 23-10 at the half and held the Shorewomen to 24% shooting from the field in the game. Trista Snyder led a balanced Blue Jay scoring effort with 10 points. Ashley Felix dished out a game-high eight assists to go along with her seven points, while Ashanna Randall grabbed a team-high nine boards and scored eight points. Katie Kimball came off the bench to block four shots in 12 minutes. WC senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) led the Shorewomen with 14 points, while senior forward Kathryn Zajac (Bellmore, NY/St. Mary's) collected a game-high 13 rebounds. The Shorewomen are back in action one week from tonight as they travel to McDaniel for a 7:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game on December 2nd. |
