Shorewomen Drop Opener to Aggies
Patronas Leads WC with 17 Points

RADNOR, PA – The Washington College Shorewomen dropped their season opener to Delaware Valley College, 89-67, this evening in the first round of the Cabrini College Tip-Off Classic. The Aggies used a 16-0 run early in the first half to jump out to a 23-7 lead and led by at least seven points the rest of the way.

Bridget Golden led Delaware Valley with a game-high 24 points on 11-of-16 shooting. She also grabbed 14 rebounds. Katie McCarthy finished two assists shy of a triple-double with 22 points, 11 rebounds, and eight assists. Jackie Hartzell contributed 16 points and four assists, while Shannon McCormick scored 12 points.

Senior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) led the way for Washington with 17 points on six-for-11 shooting from the floor and four-of-six shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Freshman guard Regina Barrett (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Mamaroneck) added 14 points and canned four three-pointers. Senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) dished out a team-high five assists.

Delaware Valley outrebounded Washington 55-35 in the victory.

The Shorewomen will face either host Cabrini or Chestnut Hill in tomorrow's consolation game at 2:00 p.m.
