16, 2004 CARLISLE, PA Host Dickinson College jumped out to a 39-16 halftime lead en route to a 72-55 win over visiting Washington College this evening in a Centennial Conference women's basketball game in Carlisle, PA. The Red Devils improved to 7-3 overall and 4-1 in conference play with the win, while the Shorewomen slipped to 3-9 and 1-6 with the loss. Dickinson led, 16-11, with 10:36 remaining in the first half before outscoring Washington, 23-5, over the remainder of the period to take the 23-point lead into the break. The Red Devils held the Shorewomen without a field goal for the final eight minutes of the period and limited Washington to five-of-24 shooting in the half. Dickinson led by as many as 29 points in the second half. Piper Estess led four Red Devils in double figures with 17 points and seven-of-nine shooting. She also collected a game-high nine rebounds. Megan Shelley added 14 points and a game-high six steals, while Patrice Johnson and Allyson Teatom contributed 10 points a piece. Senior guard Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) led the Shorewomen with 11 points. Senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro) added seven points and a team-high seven boards. The Shorewomen return to action tomorrow with a 2:00 p.m. game at Centennial Conference foe Franklin & Marshall. |
