WC Finishes Season with Win Over Owls
Four Shorewomen Reach Double Figures

CHESTERTOWN, MD – The Washington College women's basketball team finished the 2003-04 season with a win tonight, defeating visiting Bryn Mawr, 71-45, in a Centennial Conference game at Cain Athletic Center. Ten different players scored for the Shorewomen, with four of them reaching double figures.

Washington was 10-of-16 from beyond the three-point line in the game. Senior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wootton) knocked down two-of-three three-pointers en route to a team-high 13 points, while freshman guard Regina Barrett (Dobbs Ferry, NY/Mamaroneck) was four-of-five from long range for 12 points. Senior guard Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) converted three-of-four three-point field goal attempts and tallied 10 points in the win.

Also reaching double figures in scoring for the Shorewomen was senior forward Liz Smith (Sharpsburg, MD/Boonsboro), who tallied a double-double with 10 points and a game-high 12 rebounds. Senior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) dished out a game-high six assists, while senior forward Kathryn Zajac (Bellmore, NY/St. Mary's) tallied five helpers. The game was the final collegiate contest for Simos, Piringer, Smith, Patronas, Zajac, and senior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown). Those six seniors combine to hold or share 12 Washington College school records.

Bryn Mawr was led by Amy Johnson who scored a game-high 15 points. Sarah Sniezek added 11 points off the bench, while JoAnn Gage grabbed a game-high 12 rebounds.

The Shorewomen finish the season 8-17 overall and 4-14 in conference play, while the Owls finish at 4-21 and 0-18.
