12, 2003 COLLEGEVILLE, PA The Washington College Shorewomen fell to 7-14 overall and 3-8 in Centennial Conference play with a 68-56 loss at Ursinus this evening. Junior guard Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) scored a gam-high 20 points and hit six three-pointers for the Shorewomen. Ursinus (6-15, 3-8) led 33-28 at the half and never trailed in the second period. The Shorewomen cut the lead to two when junior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wooton) hit a three with 7:22 to go, but that was as close as WC would come. Simos, who finished with 19 points and seven rebounds, was the only other Shorewomen besides Piringer to reach double figures in scoring. Junior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) blocked four shots in the loss. Bridget Hussey led Ursinus with 18 points. Julia Tramontana added 15 points and a game-high 10 rebounds. The Shorewomen are back in action with a 2:00 p.m. game at Muhlenberg Saturday. |
