WC Drops Conference Game to Hopkins
Patronas, Piringer Score 14 Each

BALTIMORE, MD – The Washington College Shorewomen slipped to 2-9 overall and 0-3 in Centennial Conference play with an 86-61 loss at Johns Hopkins this evening. Junior guards Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) and Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) led the Shorewomen with 14 points a piece.

The Blue Jays (9-3 overall, 3-0 Centennial Conference) led the entire game and took ta 42-32 advantage into halftime. Hopkins finished 44% from the field, while holding the Shorewomen to 28% shooting. The Blue Jays also had a 57-43 advantage on the glass.

Patronas netted four-of-eight three-point field-goal attempts en route to her 14 points. The current Centennial Conference leader in assists, Patronas finished with five helpers in the contest. Piringer added a team-high nine rebounds to go along with her 18 points. Junior guard Karen Simos (Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wooton) also reached double figures in scoring, chipping in 12 points.

Kathy Darling led the Blue Jays with 21 points on nine-of-10 shooting from the field. Ashanna Randall added 16 points and a game-high 11 rebounds.

The Shorewomen return to action Thursday with just their second home game of the season. WC will play host to non-conference foe Philadelphia Biblical at 7:00 p.m.
