20, 2003 BRYN MAWR, PA The Washington College Shorewomen improved to 9-14 overall and 5-8 in the Centennial Conference with an 80-43 win over host Bryn Mawr (1-23, 0-15) this evening in women's basketball action. Junior guard Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wooton) scored 21 points to lead the Shorewomen in the win, while junior forward Kathryn Zajac (Bellmore, NY/St. Mary's) posted career-highs of 18 points and 15 rebounds. Washington shot 53% in the game and held a 43-25 lead at the half. Simos scored her 21 points on eight-for-10 shooting from the floor, including three-of-four shooting from beyond the three-point arc. Zajac's 18 points came on seven-for-12 shooting. Junior guard Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) added 16 points in the win. Sophomore guard Jeremy Cook (Pattenburg, NJ/Pattenburg) added nine points and five boards, while junior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) put up five points, six assists, and 10 rebounds. Deb Charamella led Bryn Mawr with 14 points, six boards, and five assists. JoAnn Gage added 12 points and six rebounds. The Shorewomen are back in action tomorrow afternoon with a 4:30 p.m. game at Muhlenberg. |
