28, 2003 CHESTERTOWN, MD Junior guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) put up game-highs of 15 points, nine rebounds, and seven assists as the host Washington College Shorewomen rolled to a 68-33 win over Bryn Mawr in Centennial Conference women's basketball action tonight at Cain Athletic Center. The Shorewomen (5-11, 2-5 Centennial) led 46-14 at the half and held Bryn Mawr to 21% shooting in the game. The Shorewomen shot 45% from the floor in the contest, including 58% in the first half. Joining Patronas in double figures in scoring were junior guards Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) and Karen Simos (North Potomac, MD/Thomas S. Wooton). Piringer scored 14 points and had four steals, while Simos finished with 13 points. Junior forward Meghan Hartzell (Williamstown, NJ/Williamstown) blocked five shots, swiped three steals, and grabbed seven boards to go along with her six points. Vanessa Von Hagen led the Owls (0-16, 0-10) with 11 points. The Shorewomen return to action Thursday when they host Notre Dame (MD) in a 6:00 p.m. non-conference game. |
