No. 4 King's Defeats Shorewomen
Piringer Closing in on Own Record

WILKES-BARRE, PA – The Washington College Shorewomen dropped a 94-53 non-conference game tonight at King's College. King's is currently ranked fourth in the D3hoops.com national poll and is now 16-0 this season. The Shorewomen dropped to 8-8 with the loss.

Washington scored the first two points of the game, but that was the Shorewomen's only lead of the contest. The Lady Monarchs shot 62% in the first half and took a 47-26 lead into the lockerroom. For the game, King's shot 56% and held WC to 29%, while outrebounding the Shorewomen, 44-35.

No King's player saw more than 20 minutes of action in the game, but four reached double figures in scoring. Carissa Ryan and Jen Wozniak each scored 12 points, while Nikki Kingston and Katie Bowes added 11 points each. Tiffani Varrasse swiped six of the Lady Monarchs' 23 steals.

Sophomore guard Katie Piringer (Potomac, MD/Stone Ridge) connected on three three-pointers en route to a game-high 13 points. Piringer is now five three-pointers away from equaling the single-season school record of 48 she set just last season. Senior forward Allyson Britton (Wilmington, DE/St. Elizabeth) contributed 12 points to the Shorewoman cause.

The Shorewomen return to action Saturday with a 2:00 p.m. Centennial Conference game at Franklin & Marshall.
