Host F&M Tops Shorewomen
Patronas Leads WC with 12 Points

LANCASTER, PA – The Washington College Shorewomen lost a Centennial Conference game to host Franklin & Marshall this afternoon, 78-51. The Shorewomen fell to 8-9 overall and 3-5 in league play, while the Diplomats improved to 13-4 and 6-2.

Washington led, 15-14, with 11:45 to play in the first half, but the Diplomats outscored them, 34-10, over the rest of the period and took control of the game. The Shorewomen were held without a field goal for the final 10:18 of the opening half.

The Diplomat lead grew to as many as 30 points on three occasions in the second half. The Shorewomen shot 28% from the field in the game and committed 28 turnovers.

Franklin & Marshall was led by Amy Kreitz, who finished with 20 points in five-for-seven shooting from the field and 10-for-11 from the free throw line. Jamie Drahos and Amy Abernathy each finished with 10 points. Abernathy also had game highs of nine rebounds and five assists.

Sophomore guard Yianna Patronas (Bethesda, MD/Walt Whitman) scored 12 points for Washington, while freshman forward Liz Smith (Hagerstown, PA/Boonsboro) added 10.

The Shorewomen return to action Tuesday with a 7:00 p.m. home game against conference foe Swarthmore.
