Miskiel Wins Pair of Events for Shorewomen
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College defeated host Washington College, 112-82, in Centennial Conference women's swimming action this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center.
Junior Ellie Miskiel (Gaithersburg, MD/Quince Orchard) won a pair of individual events for the Shorewomen, capturing the 100 freestyle in a Washington College season-best 55.54 and winning the 200 breaststroke in 2:30.06. Miskiel, already the Shorewomen's ninth-fastest swimmer ever in the 100 freestyle, improved upon her personal best time in that event.
Junior Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) won the 200 freestyle in 2:03.98, while sophomore Emily Goodchild (Annapolis, MD/St. Mary's) won the 200 butterfly in 2:31.97. Ogren was also second in the 500 freestyle in 5:35.33.
Sophomore Alicia Howard (Wilmington, DE/Charter School of Wilmington) had a pair of strong second-place finishes for the Shorewomen, swimming a WC season-best 25.63 in the 50 freestyle and taking second in the 200 backstroke in 2:20.83. Sophomore Ashley Maurizi (Reamstown, PA/Cocalico) swam a WC season-best time in the 1000 freestyle for the third time in her last three races in that event, finishing second in 11:27.87.
The Shorewomen (3-7, 1-5 Centennial) return to action one week from today with their final dual meet of the season, a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against McDaniel.
