Shorewomen Row Past Clark in Spring Opener

CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College women's rowing team opened its spring regatta season this afternoon with a home regatta against Clark University on the Chester River. The Shorewomen won the varsity eight and second varsity eight and finished first, second, and fourth in the varsity four.

The Shorewomen's varsity eight finished in 7:40 to Clark's 8:27. In the second varsity eight, Washington won in 7:48, while Clark finished in 9:04. The varsity four course was shortened to 1,800 meters (from 2,000 in the previous races). Washington's "A" boat won the varsity four in 6:22, the Shorewomen's "B" boat was second in 6:37, Clark was third in 6:48, and Washington "C" was fourth in 7:17.

Junior Kelsie Jensen (Mays Landing, NJ/Oakcrest) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's varsity eight.  Junior Kendall Mulligan (Southbury, CT/Westover School) sat stroke, senior Sarah Strickland (Potomac, MD/Holton-Arms) was in the seven seat, freshman Valeria DiLisi (Moorestown, NJ/Moorestown) was in the six seat, sophomore Kate Fiori (Boston, MA/Dana Hall School) sat in the five seat, sophomore Brittany Krueger (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) was in the four seat, freshman Elizabeth Hilton (Severna Park, MD/Severna Park) sat in the three seat, junior Jenna Moore (Catonsville, MD/Mount de Sales) sat in the two seat, and senior Christine Lynch (Lincoln University, PA/Avon Grove) was the bow.

Freshman Emily Langan (Salisbury, MD/James M. Bennett) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's second varsity eight.  Sophomore Lauren Halla (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) sat stroke, senior Catherine Black (Kimberton, PA/Academy of Notre Dame) was in the seven seat, junior Diane Hagmann (Westfield, NJ/Westfield) sat in the six seat, sophomore Rachel Benders (Cleveland Heights, OH/Beaumont School) was in the five seat, freshman Emily Sahadeo (College Park, MD/Elizabeth Seton) was in the four seat, freshman Carly Ogren (Burke, VA/Lake Braddock) sat in the three seat, senior Robin Heese (Phoenix, MD/Maryvale Prep) was in the two seat, and senior Caiti Ambrose (Milmay, NJ/Sacred Heart) was the bow.

Jensen was also the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "A" boat in the varsity four. Strickland sat stroke, Mulligan was in the three seat, Fiori was in the two seat, and DiLisi was the bow. 

Freshman Abigail Thomas (Hughesville, MD/Thomas Stone) was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "B" boat in the varsity four. Moore sat stroke, Lynch was in the three seat, Krueger was in the two seat, and Hilton was the bow.

Langan was the coxswain of the Shorewomen's "C" boat in the varsity four. Black sat stroke, Halla was in the three seat, freshman Courtney Weiss (Bath, PA/Salisbury Township) was in the two seat, and Hagmann was the bow.

The Shorewomen return to action March 24th with a home regatta against Wellesley College.
