Parrish Records 100th Career Point in 19-7 Win Over Randolph-Macon
Senior Becomes 18th Shorewoman to Reach Mark
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Senior attacker Kalli Parrish (Timonium, MD/McDonogh School) surpassed 100 career points as the Washington College women's lacrosse team raced out to a 15-3 halftime lead en route to a 19-7 non-conference victory over visiting Randolph-Macon this afternoon on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shorewomen improved to 4-1 with the win, while the Yellow Jackets slipped to 3-2 with the loss.
Parrish's 100th point came on a free-position goal with 23:23 remaining in the first half, giving Washington a 4-1 lead. The Yellow Jackets scored the next two goals to cut the deficit to 4-3, but it was all Shorewomen after that as Parrish scored on another free-position shot with 17:08 to play in the first half, igniting a run of 15 unanswered goals by Washington. Parrish finished the contest with 101 total points on 84 career goals and 17 career assists. She is the 19th Shorewoman all-time to reach the century mark in points.
Senior midfielder Rachel Bartee (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll) scored four goals for the Shorewomen, while junior midfielder Mollie Shipley (Denville, NJ/Morris Catholic) tallied three goals and two assists and freshman midfielder/defender Emily Hubley (West Chester, PA/Bayard Rustin) scored three goals and tacked on one assist. Parrish and freshman attacker Caroline Lovett (Lancaster, PA/Penn Manor) each scored two goals; Lovett's were the first of her collegiate career. Junior attacker Corinne Ziccardi (Baltimore, MD/Loch Raven) and senior midfielder/defender Ann Eickelberg (Amityville, NY/St. John the Baptist) had one goal and one assist each for Washington, while senior attacker Liza Twilley (Salisbury, MD/Salisbury School), sophomore defender/midfielder Kathleen Maleski (Mount Airy, MD/South Carroll), and freshman midfielder Liz Godorov (Cherry Hill, NJ/Cherry Hill West) scored one goal each. Godorov's was the first of her collegiate career. Junior midfielder Marissa Restaino (Media, PA/Penncrest) added two assists, while sophomore midfielder Carly Eisenbrandt (Baltimore, MD/Towson) tallied one helper.
Randolph-Macon got three goals each from Kelly Egan and Betsy Hebert and one from Alicia McGrew. Audrey Hester tallied the Yellow Jackets' lone assist of the contest.
Washington dominated possession in the first half, controlling 17 of the 19 draws in the period and holding Randolph-Macon to 2-for-12 clearing and just four shots. The Shorewomen held a 21-7 advantage in draws for the game, a 47-15 advantage in shots, and held the Yellow Jackets to 9-for-22 on clears while converting eight of their own 12.
Junior goalie Stephanie Seibert (Clear Spring, MD/Mercersburg Academy [PA]) made three saves and allowed four goals in the first 49:14 for the Shorewomen, while sophomore Rachelle Martinez made three saves and allowed three goals in the final 10:46. Nicole Woodworth made 15 saves in the loss for the Yellow Jackets.
The Shorewomen return to action Wednesday with a 4:30 p.m. game at Elizabethtown.
