Wins Award For The Third Time

LANCASTER, Pa. – Junior pitcher/outfielder Kristin Cooper (Georgetown, Del./Sussex Central) was named the Centennial Conference Softball Pitcher of the Week for the week of March 10-16 by the conference office.  This is the third time she has earned the conference's pitcher of the week award.

Cooper went 3-1 with a 0.58 ERA in four outings for the Shorewomen this past week and became the program's all-time leader in wins with her 30th victory in an 8-7 over #5 Cortland on March 14 in Auburndale, Fla.  She struck out 29 batters in 24.1 innings of work to lead the team and had a WHIP of 0.99.  The junior tossed a complete game 2-1 victory over Thomas More on March 10.  Scattered five hits, no earned runs and struck out a season-high 11 batters against the 2013 NCAA Tournament team.  She tossed the final four innings in relief in a 9-3 win over Geneva, allowing just one hit and striking out six en route to picking up the victory on March 11.  Cooper went the final 4 1/3 innings to pick up the win over #5 Cortland, the 2013 NCAA Division III Softball Finalist, and entered the game down 5-0.  She struck out three in picking up her 30th career win, the most of any WC pitcher all-time.  Against #2 Montclair St., Cooper tossed all nine innings, gave up no earned runs on only six hits and struck out nine.

This is the third time she has won the conference's pitcher of the week award, garnering the honor previously on March 26, 2012 and May 6, 2013.
