This year's NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Tennis Championships are being co-hosted by Claremont-Mudd-Scripps and Pomona-Pitzer.  The first round of the men's singles championship is scheduled for an 11 a.m. local (2:00 p.m. Eastern Daylight Time) start on Thursday with the second round scheduled for 2:30 p.m. local (5:30 p.m. EDT) the same day. The quarterfinals and semifinals will be held Saturday at 10:00 a.m. (1:00 p.m. EDT) and 2:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. EDT), respectively. Sunday's championship match will begin at noon (3:00 p.m. EDT).

Cranford, who was named the Centennial Conference's Player of the Year after earning all-conference honors in singles for the fourth consecutive year, went 15-3 at No. 1 singles this spring, including a 7-2 mark against Centennial Conference opponents. Including matches played at the ITA Southeast Regional Championships in the fall, he is 17-4 overall in singles during the 2010-11 academic year.  He is 5-2 against opponents who were regionally-ranked by the ITA at the time of competition.

Cranford is the first Shoreman to compete for a national title since Arturo Solis played in the 2007 NCAA Division III Singles Championship Tournament.

Cranford will play Felix Sun of Williams College in the first round. Sun is the number one singles player for Williams and was an All-NESCAC first-team selection. He is currently ranked fourth in the Northeast region by the ITA.
