Morgan Breaks Pool Record in 400 Individual Medley
CHESTERTOWN, MD -- Visiting Ursinus College narrowly edged out host Washington College, 109-96, in a Centennial Conference men's swimming contest this afternoon inside Casey Swim Center.
The Shoremen lost despite placing first in seven of the meet's 11 events. Freshman Lucas Morgan (Allendale, NJ/Northern Highlands Regional) broke the Casey Swim Center record in the 400 individual medley, finishing in 4:19.68. He also won the 200 breaststroke in 2:13.29 and was second in the 500 freestyle in 4:53.19. His 500 freestyle time was a Washington College season-best and made him the sixth-fastest swimmer in school history in the event.
Sophomore Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 200 freestyle in 1:47.68 and the 100 freestyle in 48.80 for the Shoremen, while sophomore Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) won the 200 butterfly in 2:02.60. Freshman Charles Logan (Durham, NC/Riverside), freshman Eric Burcin (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), Lee, and freshman DJ Bradshaw (Reisterstown, MD/Calvert Hall) opened the meet by winning the 200 medley relay in 1:39.71. Logan added a second-place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:05.13.
The Shoremen (4-5, 0-5 Centennial) return to action one week from today with their final dual meet of the season, a 12:00 p.m. Centennial Conference home meet against McDaniel.
