200 Medley Relay Team Sets Pool Record
CHESTERTOWN, MD – Host Washington College got a Casey Swim Center record from the 200 medley relay team and had the top time in eight of 11 events en route to a 121-72 over visiting Widener on Saturday afternoon in non-conference men's swimming action at the Casey Swim Center. The Shoremen are now 3-2 overall, while the Pride drop to 3-6 overall.
The 200 medley relay team of freshman Charles Logan (Durham, NC/Riverside), freshman Eric Burcin (Bethlehem, PA/Liberty), sophomore Greg Lee (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) and freshman Sean Stevens (Haddonfield, NJ/Haddonfield Memorial) set the Casey Swim Center pool record with a time of 1:39.10, breaking the record set in 2009 which was 1:39.60.
Sophomore Austin Yocum (Lebanon, PA/Cedar Crest) won the 100 butterfly and is now Washington's 10th fastest all-time swimmer in the event with a time of 54.42.
Yocum was joined in the 200 freestyle relay by Lee, Logan and sophomore Steven Bilinski (Swarthmore, PA/Strath Haven) who had the top time in the event with a time of 1:30.92 in an event the squad exhibitioned.
Morgan won two individual events, the 200 freestyle (1:49.94) and the 500 freestyle (5:00.15). His time in the 200 freestyle was a WC season-best.
Burcin captured the 100 breaststroke (1:02.12), Sean Stevens won the 100 freestyle (50.42) and Lee grabbed the 200 individual medley (2:04.24), which was a season-best time for Lee.
Junior Robert Mix (Downingtown, PA/Downingtown East) placed second in the 1000 freestyle (11:01.88), Burcin was second in the 50 freestyle (22.70) and Logan grabbed second in the 100 backstroke (56.09).
WC will return to the pool on Wednesday, January 23, 2013 against visiting Elizabethtown at 6:00 p.m. From January 2-9, the team will train for its annual winter training trip in Key West, FL.
