  • Kaliakin Named to All-Region First Team

    Washington College senior midfielder Dimitri Kaliakin has been named to the All-Mid-Atlantic Region first team by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA). Kaliakin is the first Shoremen to earn All-Region honors in 13 years.

    Five Washington College men’s soccer players have been named All-Centennial Conference in a vote conducted by the conference’s 10 head coaches. Senior midfielder Dimitri Kaliakin was selected to the first team, junior back Michael Holowesko and sophomore goalkeeper Josh Samuels were named to the second team and senior midfielder/back Cole Strong and senior forward Brian Wilkinson earned honorable mention status.

    Russell Nicholson scored the golden goal for #17 Haverford with 4:20 remaining in the first overtime session from Nick Jannelli to give the hosts a 2-1 win over visiting Washington College in the semifinal round of the Centennial Conference Men’s Soccer Tournament at Walton Field on midday Saturday. The Shoremen conclude their most successful season since 2000 with a 10-7-2 record.

    Cole Strong scored the game’s only goal in the 56th minute to lift the host Washington College men’s soccer team to a 1-0 win over visiting Dickinson in the first round game of the Centennial Conference Tournament tonight on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The win for the Shoremen came in their first postseason game in 16 years.

    BALTIMORE, Md. — Host Johns Hopkins got a goal from Drew Collins in the 37th minute to defeat visiting Washington College 1-0 in a Centennial Conference men’s soccer game played today on Homewood Field in Baltimore, Maryland. It was the regular season finale for both teams, who already clinched spots in next week’s Centennial Conference Tournament.

    Senior midfielder Dimitri Kaliakin broke the school record for career assists, which had stood since 1975, as the visiting Washington College men’s soccer team topped host Catholic, 3-1, in a non-conference game this afternoon. The win was the Shoremen’s fifth straight.

    CHESTERTOWN, Md. — Washington College got four goals in the first half from four different players en route to a 4-1 Centennial Conference men’s soccer win over visiting Muhlenberg College tonight in a game played on Kibler Field at Roy Kirby, Jr. Stadium. The Shoremen improved to 5-5-1 overall and 3-1-1 in the CC with the win, while the Mules fell to 3-6-2 overall and 1-3-1 in the CC with the loss. It is the first time the Shoremen have ever beaten Muhlenberg in back-to-back seasons.

The Shoremen improve to 4-5-1 overall and 2-1-1 in CC play with the win, while the Green Terror fall to 2-4-2 and 0-2-1 in the CC with the loss.
