Four Washington College varsity student-athletes were inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Society - the nation's oldest and most widely-known Academic Honor Society - last week. Men's Rowing Season Preview
The Washington College men's rowing team will begin its spring 2013 season looking to reclaim the Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship. The Shoremen had won back-to-back MARC Championships in 2010 and 2011, but an equipment failure early on during the final of the varsity four - one of the two championship-scoring events - at last year's regatta cost them a chance at a third consecutive title.

Washington College Rowing Teams "Can" Hunger
The Washington College men's and women's rowing teams joined together to enter the "Let's Can Hunger" effort, sponsored by the school's Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Club. The rowers donated more food than any other student organization at 300 pounds of food.

Pardon the pun, but the Washington College men's rowing team made a big splash last spring. The Shoremen's varsity eight won the 2010 Mid-Atlantic Rowing Conference (MARC) Championship, marking the program's first-ever conference title, and Washington took home the overall points trophy from the event as well.

Embracing Extreme Elements: Robert Storck '13
It's hard to imagine anyone willingly signing up for something called the "Death Race," but Washington College sophomore rower Robert Storck isn't just anyone. Storck is a certified Wildnerness Emergency Medical Technician (WEMT) who spent part of his winter break hiking and volunteering in New Hampshire's White Mountains, home to some of the worst weather on Earth.

Sophomore rower Ryan Bankert won Washington College's comedy competition in the fall. Over winter break, Bankert took his comedy to the next level, performing at Magooby's Joke House in Timonium, MD, during the club's amateur comedian night.

While other college students spent their summer on the beach, Washington College rowing coxswain Jeff Nutting spent his summer restoring a 1969 Chevy C-10 pick-up truck. Nutting was just one of several Washington College student-athletes who found alternatives to sunbathing during the summer months.
