CHESTERTOWN, MD -- The Washington College men's rowing team hosted a home regatta against Villanova University and Philadelphia University this morning on the Chester River.
In the varsity eight, Villanova edged out the Shoremen, finishing in 6:52.48 to the Shoremen's 6:54.73. In the lightweight four, Villanova won in 7:49.32, while the Shoremen finished in 8:05.93. In the varsity four, Philadelphia won in 7:09.0, Villanova "A" was second in 7:32.88, the Shoremen third in 7:45.09, and Villanova "B" fourth in 8:25.53.
Freshman John Gould (Litchfield, CT/The Gunnery) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity eight. Junior Rob Billings (Easton, MD/Easton) sat stroke, junior Conor Howlett (Tampa, FL/H.B. Plant) was in the seven seat, senior Parker McIntosh (Berlin, MD/Worcester Prep) was in the six seat, freshman Ryan Miranda (Farmington, CT/Farmington) sat in the five seat, freshman Mark Boissonneault (Bowie, MD/DeMatha) was in the four seat, freshman Kenny Evans (McLean, VA/Bishop O'Connell) sat in the three seat, freshman Sean Haynie (Hampstead, MD/Calvert Hall) was in the two seat, and junior Anthony Cairo (Port Murray, NJ/Warren Hills) was the bow.
Junior Chris Moylan (Silver Spring, MD/DeMatha) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's lightweight four. Junior Chris Carrara (Leesburg, NJ/Millville) sat stroke, junior Max Villa (Great Meadows, NJ/Pope John XXIII) was in the three seat, senior Jeff Nutting (Catonsville, MD/Mount St. Joseph) was in the two seat, and junior Dominic DiMarino (Wilmington, DE/Concord) was the bow. Nutting was manning an oar in a race for the first time since the fall semester of his freshman year; he spent most of his previous collegiate career as a coxswain.
Junior Rebecca Wozniak (Mt. Airy, MD/South Carroll) was the coxswain of the Shoremen's varsity four. Sophomore Ben Sproule (Princeton, NJ/Princeton) sat stroke, sophomore Jack Christ (Hydes, MD/Jemicy Upper School) was in the three seat, freshman Max van Hoven (Reisterstown, MD/Calvert Hall) was in the two seat, and freshman T. Ian Flinn (Marlton, NJ/Bishop Eustace Prep) was the bow.
The Shoremen return to action tomorrow at the Occoquan Sprints in Lorton, VA.
