Wille Lands on First Team
CHANDLER, AZ -- Washington College senior midfielder Kristen Wille (Stevensville, MD/Kent Island) has been named to the All-South Region first team and sophomore attack Claire McAuliffe (Clarksville, MD/Glenelg Country School) has been named to the All-South Region second team by the National Field Hockey Coaches Association (NFHCA).
This is the first time in 10 years that two Shorewomen have been named All-Region in the same season. Laura Scimeca was named to the first team and Missy Tine to the second team in 2002.
Wille, who was named to the All-Centennial Conference first team earlier this month, capped off her outstanding collegiate career with 10 goals (tied for the team lead) and two assists for 22 points this season. She also tallied a team-high 81 shots on the season.
McAuliffe, who was named to the All-Centennial second team earlier this month, shared the team lead in goals with Wille with 10 of her own and led the team in assists with seven and total points with 27. She also registered 76 shots, second to Wille.
The Shorewomen finished the season 9-10 overall and 5-5 in the Centennial Conference. Washington advanced to the five-team Centennial Conference Tournament for the fourth time in the last five years.
